“The Fosters” airs tonight at 9pm EST on ABC Family. It will be a first in that it is a fictional show based on the experiences of real life foster parents, and a bi-racial, lesbian couple adds some additional diversity into the family.
I heard an interview with a real-life foster family, also headed by bi-racial lesbian foster moms, today on NPR. Both the parents and current foster children commented on what they identified with in the show, as well as what they thought was unrealistic or left out.
The creators of the show were also interviewed, one of whom is a lesbian mom of two adopted, bi-racial children. Should be interesting!
