lack of updates

As you know, I’ve been on vacation. While in California, I dropped my phone, and after that I had limited access to facebook, GPS, wordpress, bloglovin, audiobooks, and everything else I do online. By the end of the day, I was too tired to get on my laptop, or do much with it but upload photos. After almost 10 days without all that access, I actually feel like I don’t need it all that much. I am getting a replacement phone, but I may not download wordpress or facebook or bloglovin onto it… and let laptop time be laptop time.

Anyway, I’m back at work and the worst part is missing my Jo Jo terribly. She’s gotten so tall, and fat, and FUN! I will be writing lots of posts in detail on my travel blog, but here is a summary:

Leg 1: Medford to San Francisco
Highlights: The Redwood groves of Humboldt County were probably the highlight of my entire trip! They were so amazing I actually cried.
Lowlights: A crying baby on flight #2, a crying baby in the backseat stuck in SF rush hour
Overnight: Victorian Inn in Ferndale, California

Leg 2: San Francisco
Highlights: Golden Gate Park, ferry to Sausalito, Farmer’s Market, Fisherman’s Warf, the Castro
Lowlights: dropped and broke my phone on the ferry, had to find a radio shack and get a prepaid
Overnight: 3 nights at Country Cottage B&B, I loved it there!

Leg 3: Highway 1 Drive
Highlights: Big Sur, Carmel-by-the-Sea Mission, Pfeiffer Beach, Monterey, Morro Bay, elephant seal colony, Faria Beach in Ventura, Surfrider’s Beach in Malibu
Lowlights: Sat in something tarry on a beach, had to throw away a blanket, my jeans, and get charged cause it got on the rental car seat
Overnight: one night HI-Monterey, one night Baywood Inn on Morro Bay

Leg 4: LA- Hollywood
Highlights: The crazy freak show of Hollywood Boulevard, The Hollywood Museum, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive, Hermosa Beach, Venice Beach and boardwalk
Lowlights: It was really hot, I ran out of baby formula (had to seek it out in several places), and I ran out of money.
Overnight: four nights in Orange Drive Hostel, the historic B&B that housed famous actors, like Marilyn Monroe

Leg 5: Disneyland
Highlights: My niece meeting Mickey and the Pooh characters, Jo Jo loving the submarine ride
Lowlights: It was too hot, and crowded

Leg 6: Avalon on Catalina Island
Highlights: gorgeous island scenery, lovely town, saw a whale and dolphins from the ferry
Lowlights: I had a migraine, we couldn’t do much because of the babies
Overnight: Hotel St. Lauren
