A little while after getting home from court, Jo Jo was wandering around the living room (as she does), I was sitting in a chair starting to watch an episode of The Fosters, and my mom was in the kitchen when… *knock knock knock* Surprise unannounced visit from the case worker! This is the first time I didn’t even have an inkling that she was coming, I usually know when I’m “due” for an unannounced visit, and can narrow it down to the week. I should’ve known when she didn’t schedule our monthly home visit right away, as soon as I sent my schedule. But I thought she was waiting to see if the adoption worker could come with her!
My house was actually somewhat tidy, at least it wasn’t dirty. The Fosters is a family friendly show, unlike other shows I watch (HBO’s Girls, for example). Jo Jo was dressed in clean and warm, albeit mismatched clothes. There was yogurt in her hair from breakfast, but her face was pretty clean. So… success! The adoption worker is coming next week, though, and I’m definitely going to have things in better order.
We spent a long time chatting, and she reassured me that my single status, my house size, etc etc are non-factors in adopting my baby. She said that at every staffing they have discussed my adopting her, and no one has had any misgivings whatsoever. So I felt better.
