I couldn’t resist… I donned a spare hospital gown, popped a newborn hat on Jo Jo’s head, and wrapped her in a hospital blanket. Voila! The “happy mom with brand new baby” photo I always wanted! Minus the brand-new part. Everyone was having fun with the photos, even the nurses were laughing and enjoying our little photo shoot. “What a big new-born, the biggest on record!” (Twenty-five pounds in fact.)
Jo Jo had a harder time with mommy holding another baby than I expected. She was not on her best behavior, uninterested in the new baby (I guess he is a little boring right now), and jealous of any attention he got from me. It warmed my heart… my one-year-old is possessive of me, just like she should be!
Last night she had a meltdown again, after and during a “Taco and Dexter” night at my house. But once she did sleep… she slept for 10 hours straight. It’s tiring to find out you aren’t the baby anymore!

P.S. Little Mo Mo is as cute as can be, but I just can’t believe that my Jo Jo was that small when she arrived on my doorstep. I miss the little baby days and often feel sad and nostalgic for them, while at the same time looking ahead with excitement to watching her develop into the little person she is, and experience the world through her eyes! And now Mo Mo has joined the adventure, and I’m thrilled that my best friend and I have kids so close in age. I’m sure they will have many fun memories together!
I think it’s a great idea! You probably already saw this adoption birth annoucement, but in case you didn’t, it’s so charming it’s worth a share: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/13/kelli-higgins-birth-announcement-adopted-son_n_2677901.html
I loved reading this. I love that Jo Jo is possessive of her mom! That must have done your heart some good. 🙂 xx Sweet little guy, your friend has now. It will be fun to have kids so close in age.
Love this!!!! Reminds me of the news story last year of the mom doing this with her adopted son tat had no baby pictures! Only he was like 7 or something!
