This blog is about my parenting experience(s), and as such it has evolved from fostering, TTC, pregnancy, babyloss, and single mom, and adoptive experiences (wow, it did take a lot to make me a parent!), but it has never been about my dating or personal love life. But I will mention here, as a side note, that I have been seeing someone for quite sometime, and she has become an essential part of M’s life. So my adventures in parenting are now evolving into parenting as a duo. It’s actually pretty great having someone else to watch M when I’m working, and be a second pair of hands wherever we go. It gives my mom a break, plus M now has another set of doting grandparents, not to mention another grown up who loves the heck out of her!
But this post is actually about how much fun I’ve been having planning M’s 2nd birthday party. My very small cottage is too small for more than one or two guests, and full of toys and whatnot nowadays. So I’m excited to be throwing the party in my girlfriend’s much bigger and nicer house, not to mention there are two of us to get it ready! I’ve been having a blast planning the theme, and here it is:
Growing up, I never had themed parties or any of that fancy stuff you see on pinterest nowadays, which is totally fine. I don’t think you need to do any of that to have a nice birthday or birthday party, and you should only throw such a party if you find it fun and feasible to do so! I’ve seen some of my friends’ parties and been to a few parties that are like this, and I’m feeling very classy that I get to try it out, too!
It will be family, for the most part, but Moose, my former foster son, may come with his grandma. She RSVP’d so I’m really hoping. M’s eight cousins will also be invited but I doubt they will come. Same for her half sister and half brother. My three-year-old niece and my girlfriend’s cousin’s six-year-old daughter will be coming, so there will be a few kids in any case, along with a co-worker and her one-year-old son. Possibly a couple more distant cousins. No matter, there will be plenty of grown ups and I’m just excited to have a party in a place I can feel proud of!
So here are the ideas I’ve gleaned from pinterest. Fish to go with her new aquarium from Santa (and the new fish who will soon live there). It’s gonna be a whale of a good time! (Heh heh heh).
Even the food will be adorable! Such fun!
