I often wondered if I’d ever get enough identifying information to find sister #2’s family and make contact with them. Turns out, her paternal grandma (who has custody of her in another state very far away) is now trying to make contact with her siblings because sister #2 has expressed a lot of interest in knowing them all. I found her on facebook after she friended the kids’ grandpa. I just happened to recognize her cover photo as the same one Cindy had sent me of her a month or so ago! Sister #2 is 8, very cute, looks just like her birth mom (as does sister #1), tow-headed girls that they are. I would never guess that the two oldest girls are related to the two youngest (M and A), but I guess that’s because M and A are both mixed race?
Here’s the sibling round-up:
Sister #1: 12 years old, lives nearby, we met her for the first time the other week. Looks just like Cindy, pale and blonde/blue-eyed. Being raised by Cindy’s grandparents.
Sister #2: 8 years old, lives a five hour flight away from us, being raised by paternal grandparents who want to adopt her. Looks very much like sister #1.
Brother #1: 5 (maybe 6 now) years old, also tow-headed, but similar in the facial features to M. Being raised by father nearby. Still trying to get a response from his dad about a visit.
Sister #3: 4 years old, also known as A, being raised by father, stepmom, and grown sister not too far away. Looks the most like M, although their fathers are two completely different races.
Sister #4: M!
Brother #2: Due July 1, 2015.
The more time that goes by, the more I seem to share Cindy’s dream of reuniting all of the siblings. For now, I am just trying to establish contact with them all, regular updates, and the occasional visit. When she’s grown, I want M to feel like she has access to them all and at least a minimal history with them as kids.
Congrats, AMP! One day M is going to thank you for all the effort you’ve put in to preserving her family relationships. I am impressed with your successes. How have you been able to find everyone?
