Yes, we had an earthquake here today. I was napping here with M, and thought I was dreaming that the house was shaking. All the news from Nepal creating very vivid dreams, you know? As it turns out, it wasn’t a dream, and my neighbor even fell down in her house! Of course there were no injuries or damages reported, cause it wasn’t even a level 5. But still, how fucking weird! Biggest earthquake in the history of this state since 1947!
In other (real) earthquake news, my family called from Nepal. They are living inside again, which is a great relief to me! Many, many people have fled Kathmandu to return to their home villages to rebuild, so they said the capital city feels a bit like a ghost town, and with all the collapsed buildings I’m sure it’s quite post-apocalytic. They continue to have after shocks, sometimes in 15 minute intervals.
I am still waiting to hear if my friend, a native Sherpa, survived. He was headed to Mt Everest the day before the earthquake.
In non-earthquake news, no word on whether or not Cindy returned to our state today as her facebook had implied. No response from her or M’s aunt K by text or online.
I felt it! Only my second one. It rattled all the doors and windows for a few seconds. I looked around to see if a truck had crashed into a tree or something.
