Since I’m working, there’s no Easter happening today. M’s Easter will be on Tuesday, when she’ll get her basket. She loves the Easter bunny, though, and is very excited about it. The best part of working on Easter? Not having to take my grandma to church. ‘Cause lawd… I can’t tolerate the church thing on a regular day, let alone Easter. (Except for when I was an organist… but I was getting paid.)
I bought M an ipad, because the kindle drives me nuts. There’s no youtube app for it, and I want to make sure she’s on youtube kids. The FreeTime stuff takes too long to download, and there’s not enough memory on it for more than a few games and books. Not to mention all that FreeTime stuff isn’t even accessible without WiFi, so in the car it’s no good. You can’t download music or videos onto it, because of the memory. I got a refurbished iPad mini 2 with a kid-proof case, and it’s my first “i” anything.
Last night I was happy to find my kid in bed when I got home, the dishes done, and the house pretty decent. I got right to work making this and this. I also cleaned the counter, stove, and did the dishes I used, and swept the floor. Plan to do this again tonight, so as to have a better day off on Tuesday! I really had to make some more food, so M would have something healthy and I wouldn’t have to buy my lunch.
For the readers among you, here is a list of the books I’ve read (ok, listened to). I’ve been meaning to make some recommendations for a while now, and today is a good day for that!
A Mother’s Reckoning by Sue Klebold: absolutely fascinating memoir by the mother of one of the Columbine shooters. I couldn’t stop listening!
Tears of the Desert: A Memoir of Survival in Darfur by Halima Bashir: very good memoir that really gave me a greater understanding of the conflict and the region.
And the one I already mentioned: Beneath the Surface by John Hargrove, which is a great companion to Blackfish and makes you really feel like you get to know the captive whale industry and some of the whales themselves.
