This morning before I left for work (at 5:30am), M was awake. She looked at me, touched my head, and said, “awww, you have a head ache?”
I said, “No, I don’t.”
She said, “A tummy ache?”
Me: “No…”
M:”A leg ache??”
Me: “I don’t have an ache anywhere, honey. I’m alright.”
M: “An arm ache???”
Me: “No! I’m fine, this is just my face in the morning!”
I obviously look pretty wretched early in the morning.
I explained to M that she would be going to her friend Norah’s house after school. She was very excited. This child loves going into other people’s houses and cars. Every day after school she tries with all her might to get into another parent’s minivan with their kids. I have to pry her away. She runs into our neighbor’s houses whenever she can, opening their doors and cupboards and standing on their furniture (doesn’t she sound like a joy?). So I was very confident that she’d be in heaven today when “Norah’s mommy” picked her up in their van.
And I was right. I received a photo of her in the back seat with a grin from ear to ear. She couldn’t be happier and my mom couldn’t be happier that she has until 6:30pm to do anything she wants, and I couldn’t be happier that everybody’s happy!
