how’s the low-carb going?

I’ve lost a total of 0 pounds.

That’s a zero, not the letter O.

I have stuck to the low carbs the entire time, even over vacation. I had two cheats on vacation: hot dog buns one night, and ice cream one day. I have been in the 50-100g of carbohydrates solidly (including vegetables and fruit) and actually under 50g the vast majority of the time. I have easily stayed below 1300 calories for the day, by 100-200. I have drank more water than ever. I have walked instead of taking the bus.

And nothing. Nada. Talk about discouraging, as this is the diet in which you supposedly see early results, at least on the scale. I’m more concerned with percentage of body fat than numbers, but a couple of numbers would’ve helped my morale.

FML.

  1. Maybe your calories are too low. Yes, too low. I have a friend who when she diets, can’t let her calories fall too low or she loses nothing. If she bumps them up a bit, bam!! She loses weight quickly!

I know its super depressing to see that scale stay the same week after week. It’s totally not fair after putting in all that work!

  2. I understand! I lost 10lbs during the first 3 weeks of going low carb and now I’ve stopped. It’s frustrating not seeing the scale move but I feel better. I have more energy,my clothes are fitting better and my skin has cleared up. I had an old aerobics teacher that told us to throw away our scales and buy tape measures instead. I should probably follow that advice.

  3. My experiences / successes with low carb have always been in terms of inches rather than pounds, and generally feeling better and not being hungry. Nuts and the occasional serving of beans has helped with upping my caloric intake, too. Good luck!
